Tailored care in a private setting
Understanding the costs and fees of treatment can be an important part of choosing the right care for you. We offer private, inpatient treatment in South Africa. This means that treatment is not covered by standard public healthcare systems and is typically self-funded.
At the same time, we believe that clarity about what to expect is essential. Because every situation is different, your costs are always discussed on an individual basis.
How the cost of treatment is determined
The cost of your treatment at Connection Mental Healthcare depends on a few factors. These include:
- the duration of your stay
- whether your treatment includes a detox
- whether your room is shared or private
Once your programme is agreed, the care within it is part of the cost. If one of our specialists prescribes medication as part of your treatment, both their care and the medication itself are covered. We address both your addiction and any underlying mental health conditions as part of our holistic approach to recovery.
Would you like a clearer picture of what treatment could look like for you or how we treat a dual diagnosis? Get in touch with our team on +27 21 541 0643 for a personal conversation about your situation.
“Money worries should never be the reason someone delays getting help. We talk through the costs openly from the very start – no surprises, just a clear picture of what your care involves.”
What is included in the costs
When discussing the cost of treatment, we aim to be clear about what is included.
Our programmes typically cover:
- shared or private accommodation in our inpatient setting
- a minimum of 4 individual sessions per week with your personal therapist
- daily group sessions
- 24/7 nursing care
- prescribed medication and consultations with our doctors
- 3 sport sessions per week with a personal trainer
- specialist care from our multidisciplinary team
- a private, calm and supportive environment with a gym and pool
- fresh, nutritious meals prepared each day by our own chefs
- laundry service during your stay
- outings to visit Table Mountain, the African penguins and more
More than treatment alone
Relaxing and fun activities, both inside our rehab centre and beyond it, help you heal as well. That is why your stay includes the use of our pool, a beautiful garden full of exotic plants and flowers, and a tidal pool, along with regular outings to places like Table Mountain.
These can help you unwind and see old patterns differently. All of our facilities, outings and activities are part of your road to recovery. Would you like to learn more about what we have to offer? Please call us on +27 21 541 0643.
Additional costs
Alongside the cost of your treatment, there are a few things to budget for separately. These fall outside your programme and are either paid directly by you or arranged on your behalf.
Travel
Travel to and from our rehab centre in South Africa is arranged and paid for separately. This includes your flights, your journey from home to the airport, and the transfer between the airport and the clinic. We are happy to help you plan this, so your arrival is as smooth as possible.
Personal deposit
Please keep in mind that a small deposit might be required depending on your needs for personal purchases during your stay, such as snacks and other small items.
Medical care outside your programme
Your programme covers the care that is part of your treatment at Connection Mental Healthcare. Acute medical care that falls outside this, for example a sudden injury or illness that needs to be treated by a local doctor or hospital, is not part of your treatment cost. For situations like these, we recommend taking out travel insurance, or checking whether your existing policy covers medical treatment abroad.
Private treatment and self-funding
As a private rehab centre, we offer immediate access with minimal waiting lists and a high level of personal attention. We tailor your treatment fully to you and protect your privacy in a discreet setting.
While this means that treatment is not typically covered by public healthcare systems, it also gives us the flexibility to focus entirely on what you need.
